SNOWSPORTS FOR MENTAL HEALTH
Funded by Foundation Scotland from the Clubs In Crisis Fund, we are delighted to be launching a new project this Autumn - Snowsports for Mental Health. This funding will be enabling us to support a series of sessions for people to join as well as support our Coaches and Volunteers with training in Mental Health Awareness and Mental Health First Aid.
As we come out of the pandemic, mental health has been affected hugely, particularly for many of us living in relatively rural and isolated communities. We believe Snowsports has the power to improve not only our physical but mental wellbeing too. By bringing people together, young and old we can share our love for Snowsports and the fun and thrills it brings, whilst enjoying the great outdoors and plenty of fresh air.
We will be running a series of 2 hour sessions through the Autumn where anyone can join* and enjoy some fun on the slopes. Cheesy music, coaches on hand for tips and tricks (but you choose what you want to do), as well as laughs and banter, it's about being a part of the snowsports family and getting away from feeling isolated once again.
*Our minimum ability standard of strong snowplough turns, the ability to stop and use the ski tow unaided still apply as we are unable to cater for beginners
